Somatic Days are in-person immersions in regulating the Autonomic Nervous System. They are led by facilitators from around the world who are researchers, clinicians, and healers that specialize in modalities that address Nervous System Dysregulation.
This April Somatic Day is centered around SOUND & SENSATION.
Here are the day's events
Kenny Kolter will be leading a sound bath in the open fields of the Wildlife Management Property that we call home. His sound immersions are between 60-90 mins and engulf your nervous system in sound, rhythm, and vibration. Kenny provides the gong ceremonies for the Dallas Yoga Center and many other surrounding area centers for health and healing. This is an experience you will not want to miss. As mentioned in Healthline, “A sound bath is typically a way of managing anxiety, soothing the nervous system, and blocking all the ideas and thoughts out of your consciousness as you connect with your body”.
As we transition from our sound experience, we will enjoy our lunch and slip into Earthing. Earthing is a practice that involves connecting with the Earth by walking, sitting, or lying down on the ground, grass, sand or other natural surfaces without wearing shoes or socks. The practice is based on the idea that the Earth's surface has an electrical potential, and direct contact with the Earth's surface can help balance and restore the body's electrical charge.
Proponents of earthing as a calming practice suggest that the Earth's electrical charge can neutralize free radicals and inflammation in the body, which can help reduce stress and improve sleep. They also indicate that earthing can improve circulation, reduce muscle tension, and improve immune function. Some studies have shown that grounding can positively affect cortisol levels, heart rate variability, and inflammation.
We will dedicate ourselves after our lunch to sound in motion. We will dance and drum in the fields where you will learn how the positions of your body directly affect your nervous system, how other cultures incorporate dance for community healing, and how drumming impacts the eardrum helping vagal tone. Be prepared to be deeply moved by the energetic flow and connection of drumming in community.
